Lilith is a succubus-type demon who in some Jewish traditions is regarded as a demon who sexually assaults men in their sleep and harms women and newborns during childbirth. In some other traditions, she gave birth to half-demonic children using the seed of Adam. Lilith in the Old Testament's name may roughly translate to "screech owl", "the night-owl", "the night-monster", etc. suggesting she's a creature and a bird-like one at that and was also speculated by Talmudic-period rabbis. In The Zohar, she's described as a demon who, "roams at night, and goes all about the world and makes sport with men and causes them to emit seed. In every place where a man sleeps alone in a house, she visits him and grabs him and attaches herself to him and has her desire from him, and bears from him. And she also afflicts him with sickness, and he knows it not, and all this takes place when the moon is on the wane", suggesting she's the demon of nocturnal emissions or the early explanation for that event.
